Another great morning for our CEO class!
Last week we visited Bacon & Van Buskirk Glass Co. in Champaign–Urbana, where owner Aaron Hiatt welcomed us in and gave students an inside look at a long-standing, service-based business.

Aaron shared the story of his path to ownership, the importance of quality craftsmanship, and what it takes to lead a team in a specialized industry. Students were able to see the shop, ask thoughtful questions, and learn how residential and commercial projects move from concept to installation.

What stood out most was Aaron’s transparency—his willingness to talk about the challenges, the risks, and the reward that come with taking over an established business and continuing its legacy. Our students left with a deeper understanding of leadership, succession, customer service, and the day-to-day realities of keeping a business moving forward.

These are the moments that shape our class—real conversations, real businesses, and real examples of what entrepreneurship looks like in our communities. We are so grateful for businesses who invest their time and wisdom into our students. Thank you, Aaron, for opening your doors and pouring into the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs!
